It somehow always feels as-if I find myself when travelling. It was with nervous excitement that I flew up to Bloemfontein and drove the hour or so to the Swanepoel family farm outside the little town of Smithfield in the Free State province of South Africa.

I checked into my B&B (the Purple House B&B) and made my way to the farm where I got to meet friends and family staying over for a couple of days and food being prepared over a fire.

I realised how the place you grew up and laid the foundations of your life guided by your parents and siblings, friends and family is immensely special and I could feel unadulterated love in the air.
